Writing an email: separate windows and attachments
In short
Press “Compose” (or the C key) to open a new message, by default in its own Windows window. Drag files in to attach them (up to 25 MB in total) and send with Ctrl+Enter.
How do I write a new message?#
Press Compose or the C key. To reply, use R (Reply), A (Reply all) or F (Forward). Fill in To, Cc, Bcc and Subject, write, and send with Send or Ctrl+Enter.
If you have several mailboxes, pick the one to send from in the From field. As you type recipients, autocomplete suggests your contacts; a small “+” next to a new address lets you save it to your address book.
Can I write in a separate window?#
Yes, and it’s the default: Open messages in a separate window is on in Settings → General. Each message opens in its own Windows window, which you can place next to other programs and which stays on the desktop even when Mailamber is minimized. You can keep several messages open at once.
If you turn the option off, the composer opens inside the main window: you can drag it around, minimize it (Minimize), or still open it in a window with Open in a window.
How do I attach a file?#
Drag one or more files into the message: “Drop files to attach them” appears. Or use Attach files. The limit is 25 MB in total per message (and per file): above that, the app tells you which file is over the limit. While uploading, you see the progress file by file.
How do I format text or send HTML?#
The toolbar offers Bold, Italic, lists and links. For pixel-perfect messages, use the HTML editor: write or paste the code, check the Preview, and Mailamber sends exactly that markup. You can also save it as a template.
What’s in the sidebar on the right?#
From Windows 1.14.0, a sidebar on the right of the message has two tabs:
- AI: the AI assistant that writes, rewrites, translates and proofreads your text (Plus and Premium). Open it with the AI button in the toolbar or with Ctrl+J.
- Templates: your templates, with variables filled in automatically from the recipient. Open it with the Template button next to AI or with Ctrl+Shift+T, with the cursor already in the search box.
You can widen the sidebar by dragging its edge or collapse it to a thin strip; when the window is narrow it opens as a panel over the text.
What does Mailamber check before sending?#
When you press Send, Mailamber looks for three common mistakes and, if it finds one, shows a “Before you send” window instead of sending right away:
- A misspelled recipient domain. An address like anna@gmial.com or studio@rossi.con gets a suggestion that fixes it with one click. In the recipients field the suspicious address is already highlighted in amber while you write.
- A forgotten attachment. If the subject or your text mentions an attachment (“attached”, “in allegato”, “adjunto”, “Anhang”, “ci-joint”, “em anexo”…) but no file is attached, you can add it straight away. Quoted text from replies and your signature are ignored.
- Template fields left empty, such as a
{{first_name}}that hasn’t been filled in.
Choose Review to go back to the message, or Send anyway if everything is as you want it. The checks run on your PC, with no AI and nothing sent anywhere. On Android you get the same checks as alerts before sending.
Where do drafts go?#
Mailamber saves the message as you write (“Draft saved”). Drafts are stored locally on the PC: if you close and reopen, they’re still there. To delete one, use Delete draft.
From the Android version after 1.6.0, the phone also saves drafts automatically while you write, when you leave the message or when the app goes to the background: you’ll find them in the menu under Local drafts, on that phone only.
What’s different on Android?#
On the phone the composer is more streamlined: a To field (multiple recipients work too), subject and body, the HTML editor, templates, the AI assistant, tracking and follow-up. Cc/Bcc, outgoing attachments, scheduled sending and undo send are not available yet: use the Windows app for those.
