Getting started with Mailamber
In short
Create a free Mailamber account, install the app for Windows or Android, sign in with that account and add your email mailbox. Your mail starts syncing right away and stays only on your device.
Mailamber is a local-first email client: the app on your PC or phone talks directly to your provider (Gmail, Outlook, Libero, Aruba, your PEC…) and keeps messages and attachments only on your device. Your Mailamber account is for your plan, license and support, not for your mail.
What do I need to get started?#
- A PC running 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 (x64 or ARM64), or an Android phone with Google Play.
- The address and password of the mailbox you want to connect. For Gmail you need an app password; for Outlook, Hotmail and Live the Sign in with Microsoft button is all you need.
- A few minutes. No credit card required: the Free plan is free forever.
How do I get started, step by step?#
- Create your Mailamber account. Sign up on the website or directly in the app on first launch. You’ll get an email to confirm your address.
- Install the app. On Windows, download the installer from the Download page (installation guide); on Android, install Mailamber from Google Play (guide).
- Sign in with your Mailamber account. On first launch the app asks for the email and password of the account you just created. The device is linked to your license.
- Add your mailbox. Choose Add account: with your email and password, Mailamber detects the servers of the most popular providers by itself. For Outlook, use Sign in with Microsoft.
- Let the sync do its work. Headers arrive first, then previews. On the PC, new mail arrives in real time thanks to IMAP IDLE.
What should I do after adding my first mailbox?#
- Choose your theme and language (on the PC, in the welcome flow or in Settings).
- Learn two shortcuts: Ctrl+K opens the command palette and ? shows all shortcuts.
- Try Smart spaces and Smart Priority to keep only what matters at the top.
- Install the app on your phone too: with the same account you see the same mail, within your plan’s device limit.
