In short
You almost never need to enter them: Mailamber detects the servers by itself. For manual setup, use IMAP on port 993 with SSL/TLS and SMTP on 465 (SSL/TLS) or 587 (STARTTLS), with your full email address as the username.
Mailamber configures the servers of the most popular providers by itself. This page is for when you want to enter them manually (in Server settings) or check that they’re right.
Which values should I use in general?#
- Username: your full email address (e.g.
anna@demo.it). - IMAP (incoming mail): port 993, security SSL/TLS (in Mailamber: TLS (recommended)).
- SMTP (outgoing mail): port 465 with SSL/TLS, or 587 with STARTTLS.
- Password: your mailbox password, or an app password if your provider requires one.

What do the notes in the table mean?#
- An app password is required. The provider rejects your normal password in email programs. Create a dedicated one: Gmail, iCloud and Yahoo (from your account security settings). Libero requires one too if you’ve turned on 2-step verification (“Password Sicura”).
- Turn on IMAP access in webmail first. GMX and WEB.DE keep IMAP off until you turn it on in the webmail settings (POP3/IMAP section). GMX may turn it off again after a long period without sign-ins.
- Use “Sign in with Microsoft”. Outlook.com, Hotmail and Live no longer accept passwords: connect the mailbox with Microsoft. The servers in the table are for reference only.
What if my provider isn’t listed?#
Look in your provider’s help pages for “IMAP” and “SMTP” (sometimes called “incoming mail” and “outgoing mail”) and enter the values you find. For mailboxes on a company domain, ask your administrator or hosting provider. If something goes wrong, the IMAP and SMTP errors page explains the most common messages.
